Biggest-ever Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards culminates National Apprenticeship Week

The biggest-ever Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards took place on Friday 9th February.  The evening event took place outside of Truro and Penwith College for the very first time at the Eden Project. Well over 200 guests attended with a host of local and national sponsors to celebrate the success of 48 apprentice, employer and mentor nominees across 18 categories.

James Angliss scooped Cornwall’s Apprentice of the Year having enjoyed incredible success progressing to a University Level Chartered Surveying Apprenticeship having project managed a multi-million-pound NHS facilities project to the benefit of Cornwall.

47-year-old Sarah Hyde-Wear won Achiever of the Year having navigated several difficulties and personal hurdles throughout her apprenticeship, while Tamzin Irvin won the new Academic Mentor of the Year award, boosting nursing numbers for Cornwall’s NHS having established the county’s only Nursing apprenticeship programme. 

Emma Harris from Cornwall Group Ltd picked up Workplace Mentor of the Year and was described as “a consistent source of inspiration with countless success stories from those who are fortunate enough to be mentored by her”.
