Not sure how to get there?

If you are unsure if or how you may be able to get to a potential new job, there are several free route planners available on the internet that can help. Simply type in your starting address or post code, and the one you wish to get to, and these route planners will offer details of public transport or car journey routes, with a plan and timings.

Public Transport Services

Cornwall has an extensive public transport network, whilst it is not always perfect, buses and trains connect our towns and villages, making commuting possible.

Plan your journey with online tools or apps like Traveline, GoBus, First Bus and GWR (Great Western Railway). They provide real-time schedules, routes, and ticket information and will alert you to any problems with services.

Understanding travel times is essential for punctuality. Most public transport services in Cornwall operate from early morning until late evening. It is advisable to check the timetables in advance, ensuring you are aware of the departure and arrival times to plan your day effectively.

Lift Sharing

Try exploring lift-sharing platforms. These services connect commuters heading in the same direction, allowing you to share the journey and costs. It is an environmentally friendly and budget-conscious choice.  Alternatively, speak to your new employer or work colleagues about lift sharing.

Cycling and Walking Routes

Cycling and walking can be a delightful commuting option in Cornwall. With more recent investment in cycling and walking paths and e-bike schemes it can be a cost effective and healthy option. Many employers also offer cycle to work schemes. You can benefit from discounts, where the cost of a new bike and any accessories are taken directly in regular payments from your salary.

Speak to your employer, they might will be happy to support flexible working hours, or hybrid working to help you manage travel arrangements for work, reduce the cost and contribute to Cornwall’s net zero challenge.

If you are out of work, speak to your local Jobcentre about any support they might be able to provide, helping you get to work when looking for and starting a new job.
