“I didn’t know much about AI initially, but I realised it was something I needed to understand better. I was receiving a lot of sales calls for business services claiming I needed AI enhancements, and I felt quite in the dark about what was genuinely useful. I wanted to upskill so I could make more informed decisions, while also learning how AI could help streamline parts of my work and business processes.”

Miranda wanted a practical, accessible approach to training that would help her to better understand how developments in AI can be applied to a real-world business setting, and after seeing a friend share the course in AI for Workplace Productivity ran by Cornwall Opportunities and Digital Peninsula Network, she decided to sign up.

One of the main attractions to Miranda was that it was local and relatively short. It didn’t feel like something that would drag on for a year, which made it much easier to commit to.

The schedule felt manageable and realistic compared to a course spread over a long period of time – something that is a real positive of Skills Bootcamps.

Miranda wanted to streamline the business and free up time to serve customers better. By understanding AI – what it is and how to use it – she could implement it into the business.

“I thought the course was structured really well. The trainers were excellent - knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and they worked very well together. Sitting through a full day of learning can be a lot, but the way the sessions were organised and broken up made it much easier to stay engaged throughout.”

With the course being well structured, supportive, and practical - it helped to make AI feel much more approachable and useful in a real-world context, and there was also space during the day for one-to-one support if you got lost or needed extra help. The availability of individual support made a big difference.
