Truro and Penwith College was awarded the accolade of national Apprenticeship Provider of the Year at the 2025 ATA Awards and has repeated this success by being shortlisted for four categories at the Apprenticeship Guide Awards taking place in April 2026; Best College for Apprenticeships, Best Apprenticeship in Hospitality/ Tourism for the Level 4 Hospitality Manager programme, Best Apprenticeship in Healthcare for the Level 6 Registered Nurse provision and Best Apprenticeship in Engineering for the flagship Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician standard.

The college has been recognised by the government as one of five Further Education Colleges designated as Expert Apprenticeship Providers; providing regular opportunities to inform and influence policy making. This status is reinforced by the outcome of the most recent Ofsted Inspection during which Truro and Penwith College achieved an Outstanding rating for its Apprenticeship provision; reflecting the high quality of training, strong employer partnerships and exceptional outcomes, including an Apprenticeship Achievement Rate that ranks in the top three for General Further Education Colleges in England.

The College has secured and committed significant investment to ensure industry-standard training environments and facilities across its campus sites, including the state of the art Institute of Technology centre based at the Truro Campus that has the current and high-specification equipment required to train the Engineers and Manufacturers of the future.

Active industry engagement underpins Truro and Penwith College’s apprenticeship offer and delivery; with Programme Leads with strong industry credentials ensuring that all apprenticeship programmes develop knowledge and skills that are both of immediate value to their employers and can respond to emerging needs and technologies.

The College campuses in Truro, Penwith (Penzance) and Tregye (near Carnon Downs) are geographically located to provide communities and businesses with easy access to exceptional education and training. The College collaborates with a diverse range of industry sectors across the county aligned to institutional specialisms and local economic priorities to promote career opportunities and bridge skills gaps, including Automotive, Business, Construction, Engineering, Health and Hospitality.

The STEM and Health Skills Centre in Bodmin is a new multi-million pound facility specifically designed to bring technical skills training to North Cornwall, with Engineering and Health apprenticeships delivered alongside full-time 16-19 and Adult Learning programmes. Further investments are underway to upgrade the facilities for Digital provision within the TEF silver rated University Centre at the Truro Campus.
