Bridging Skills Gaps and Unlocking Opportunities

Cornwall Council is running a pilot on championing digital badges, working with employers, colleges, schools, learning and training providers across the region to encourage more local people to explore digital badges as a way to evidence their skills. Digital badges are for everyone, they match local people with further learning opportunities, career opportunities and jobs. They offer step by-step learning leading to skills that can easily be promoted and tailored to the needs of employers.

What is a Digital Badge?

Digital badges are a record of skills and achievements, often those highly valued by local employers but not formally recognised in formal education e.g. teamwork, self-confidence, people skills and leadership potential. As badges are earned, it’s easy to share them on platforms such as Linkedin or upload them to a digital profile, CV or email signature.

How Do You Get a Digital Badges?

Badges can be earned in a variety of ways which could include taking part in workshops, networking events, volunteering or work experience. They’re a tangible way of documenting achievements and can be shared on a website, email signature, Linkedin profile or CV. 

Could You Be a Digital Badge Champion?

During the pilot phase we are asking employers from across the region to help champion digital badges – everyone’s support will make a difference. This means showing that you understand and value digital badges as a trusted and effective way of verifying skills in your organisation. Making the pledge is a commitment to start recognising digital badges as part of your recruitment process or professional development for existing members of your team. 

It is free and all we ask of employers who pledge is  to promote digital badges, support employees and candidates to access digital badges and share and display your digital badge pledge on your website or in your workplace.
